Let me check something wrong. Am I audible? I hope so. Hey, there's something funny in my head. And I chose Google Meets because of the background and you know, to be fancy, but they start off with this was supposed to start off with, "Mama, I made it." I don't know. I just I just I just I just like that those words like, "Mama, I made it." Wonder if my mama's born. I don't even know she was talking like this. Anyhow, this video is for my mother. The goal is to save her $20 because a YouTube ad, can you believe it? A whole YouTube ad was about to convince her to pay to learn about AI. And I'm sitting right here.

I wasn't sitting right here, but like I came home for like I call it rehabilitation. And it was like that's just that just that just makes no sense. So it has forced me to have to not forced me. I've been wanting to do it, but like this is not the perfect excuse to go ahead and teach. I guess I'm going to look for a better word for it. But anyhow, we're here today to learn about AI. Probably heard a lot of already. So like I'm so sorry. This is this is my mother and all the other people like my mother who are very much unaware of what is happening in AI, right? Like the things that are just like transpiring.

It's amazing, it's scary, it's disastrous. Honestly, it's it's for people who are aware it's it's it's an emotional just emotional turmoil. And I'm just going with the flow, I guess you could call it. So, I'm in the call. Yes, I'm the only one in the call. Stay in the call. Like, I'm not allowed to talk to myself. Oh, yeah. The popup of Google popped up. It's like, oh, you're the only one in the call. Would you still want to be here? Can I not see I'm talking like if I was muted? Sure. Show me the It's fine. It's fine. It's okay. So how we going to start this? The plan. The plan is to take you through the very basics of LLMs. What is an LLM?

And LM stands for a large language model which is a piece and part of AI. So when you hear the president talk about AI, AI, AI, AI has arrived, he's talking about LLM's arrived, a section of AI. We could go deep into what an a large language model is, but I'm not that. I I I I don't I don't I don't dabble in the technicalities. I read up on it, I understand it, and then I move on with my life, right? But typically these videos I'm going to be making are also to sort of share my to share I guess how I I navigate the digital world and all of its fanciness, right?

As a very basic level, the digital world is the most laziest people on the face of the planet. So anything and everything they've named is based off of English, right? Like the most basic of English and then they complicate life by putting acronyms to it. Why? I don't know, right? So LLMs ah that's why they do it because you know it's so basic of English they need to have multiple words. So LLM stands for large language model right? So large in language is typical English. Model is what model would be. But in our case, in our world, it's a little bit tricky.

I don't even know if I can say our world because I don't think I'm a part of that world anymore. So what is a model? What is a large? What is a language? So if I'm not mistaken, if I'm not mistaken, LM are built on top of something we call machine learning, which is also acronym for ML. And in machine learning, they build these little models that have particular purposes, right? So, it's a grouping of of information to perform or understand a task, right? Think of it as a neuron in a brain, which is what they've been trying to model their whole entire life. And this and this and this can go on for days, right?

So, I'm just going to stop at those two for you. So when someone says AI has arrived, they are lying to you. A has been here for almost more than 50 years if I'm not mistaken since the 1960s plus maybe again me I'm very bad with my history and so is just the next frontier of all those decades of learnings right and so what we now have for ourselves here is that I don't know where I was going with But what we now have here for ourselves is a a large language model. So the model part is based off of that section of machine learning which was all those groupings of models they created that I explained earlier.

And so that's where the model part comes in. Then we've got language. So I'm going to butcher this meaning but I'm also going to explain it to you like this so you don't need to stress about the technicalities of things. Right? The language part comes in because now you interface with these models using language right in our case English in other people's cases French in other case oh question awesome so yeah so you can you can speak to it in most of our colonizers language and it will respond to you. Then we have Oh, it also supports some South African languages.

I don't know how accurate because I sadly don't don't speak them well, but I haven't heard people complain and people seem to be okay with it. So, yay. So that's where the language part comes in. The language is how you interface with the model, right? And so again in the most basic of forms those models that they trained in machine learning they then created a model a model that's just act with language and other complicated things that if I start getting into it I'll make your life miserable right now. That's for a separate video that'll be done by somebody else that cares about those things. And so that's what happens to language, right?

So that when you say hello, they built it in a way that understands hello and they so so so there's another concept that maybe I should then also share. Whats do is they generate and guess the next word, right? They've trained it on so much language that when you say hello, it guesses that the next word should be hello back, right? Because it's been shown conversations over the years and now these conversations when somebody says hello, somebody says hello back. So this language model will respond to you as and say hello back right because it's been seen like that.

Right now this is important and I'm realizing just how important this explanation might be because like I slightly want to demystify the magic of what you're going to experience. Because it's very important to demystify this this magic so we understand that it's a tool and nothing more right there was a book I read when I was learning to code for the first time ever the first page said and I'll paraphrase it is that computers are the dumbest thing on the face of this planet and that stayed with me to this day and it's very important to remember that the computer will do exactly what you tell it to do and nothing else.

And these large language models have been built on top of that idiotic computer. So if you tell it to do a it will do a this is very important to note. And so that's pretty much it, right? They trained the computer to guess the next word. It's gotten it's grown from there. Like it's really grown and there's so much more to it. But that was the beginning I guess of the end. No, no, no, no. But that was the beginning of this whole new wave that's made AI more accessible to nontechnical people, right? And then the large part is this is something I just recently learned. The large part is what you call this now.

There are different sizes to these things and as the size gets bigger, the more it can do, the more it can accomplish, the more work that went into making it happen. So that's when the large part comes in. So it's large language models. So you see English English just just just go there people are starting to complicate our lives. Yeah they are because they make the words short. When you find out what the actual words stand for just just apply English to it and you'll be fine. That's just my assumption. So that's a large language model and that's what I'll be introducing right.

And so let me share my screen because what I will be showing you now. Okay. Did I even practice this? Oh, okay. Cool. Let's do this. I believe you should be able to see my screen now. We're going to close this. We're going to slide over. Let's just make this big. It's fine. So, yeah, I was I was chatting with it a while. I also don't know how to clear this because I just built this for my mother, right? But for all of you that would like this, like it'll be available in the link. Because I I just took out everything. We have various versions of this, right?

And they have been running to I don't really know where I I I really can't speak for them. And they've added all of these features that will just complicate your life. And I've learned in the past when I put technology in front of my mother and there's a lot of things happening, I have to explain all of those things today. I I do not want to be explaining those things. All she needs is to chat, right? So, as I described, you say hello. Well, it asks me a question, but like, so that's why it's now responding. Hey, budget two sheet isn't ready. We will get back to that. So, how do you call this now?

As you can see, he's talking to me like a normal human being, right? We can say bonjour, but then I'm also shooting myself in the foot because like me me and my French is terrible. Guys, me I can't spell my French. My mother never taught me to write in French. There was no need to test. Hey. Anyhow, anyhow, back to English, please. Okay. So, as as as you can see, it speaks to you. And as you can see, I wrote it back to English, please. And now it's generating the next words and going ah and I probably need to say sure back to English. That's it. That's it. There is no thought in this. Yes. Yes.

The more you go into this world and the more you you explore this, you will learn that they're doing their very best to give computer the ability to think. Please remember this thing cannot think. This thing has has has has it's empty on the inside. Please remember that. Okay. As you can see, I'll be the first person the the the computers will be taken.

So the main reason for this right so you install this I will just give you a link and I will thrust you to be able to install it is like on a Windows you just double click the installer it will start the installation process and it will show up on your computer it's called desk so you will just install desk and then you'll have like this logo at the bottom of the screen and then you open this up and then you can our chatting right now. The reason I kept this simple for you is so that you don't need to bother about anything else. So here's here's here's me adding one more complexity. Now in your case, which now it's broken.

I don't know why I do this to myself. Let's just keep it like that. Let's just keep it like that. It's fine. We'll fix it. It'll work in the next video. I will I will explain. But in your case, what you need right for now, just what you need, right? Is there's a lot to to to share. I'm going to go to downloads, right? And then I have what am I looking for? Give me a second. Give me a second. Give me a second. The creative heist. Okay. And I was like, please tell me about this. So, the creative heist is an Excel sheet.

The reason the demo is again an Excel sheet is, as I told you, this video was purposely done for my mother, but like I'd imagine this is useful to a lot of other people that still use Excel sheets. For those of you that use your chlorine, your charging PT and you know your fancy stuff, please, please go and enjoy yourselves. Now you will go to you'll click that this paper clip. Paper clip is for attachment purposes. You click it. It will open up that screen I showed you. You go to the Excel sheet that you would like to make changes to. Right? Once you've selected it, it will show up like this on the on the the conversation panel.

And then you will ask it please tell me about this or can you see this file or whatever you want to call it right once you do that it will then begin the process of searching your computer at that specific file it will start to read that excuse me it would start to read that file and it will then begin to understand the file right in this case I made it to read my budget my first of a budget I ever made when I was trying to be serious in life. So now it's going through that budget. And it's probably going to tell me what you call this now. It's probably going to give me a summary, right? It's going to give a summary.

It's going to tell you what this budget is about, right? So while it's doing that, I'm going I want to test another feature over here, right? So it's like what was or what is my biggest expense on the budget? Now what I'm trying to test here is if the message gets ceued. Okay, perfect. Because sometimes I am a little bit impatient. I would like to tell it a few things ahead of time. So you can send it a message and it'll put it there and it what Q means is that it is what's the word I'm looking for? It will attend to that message of yours afterwards.

Now while it's doing this this is this is why LLMs are having so much fun right is you can tell it to do something and as you can see it's doing something. This tells you it's busy. This on your computer thing. They're telling you it's busy. I'll put nicer words there. And while it's busy, you can continue with your life, right? And it'll let you know when it's done and you can come back and you can see what it's told you to do. This is taking longer than normal, which is weird cuz when I was testing this, it responded really quickly. So, let's do this quickly. Stop presenting for a moment. Come back here. Okay, I'm back.

This might just be part of the first part of the version, right? When I was busy testing, it was being a little bit finicky, so I added a little bit more extra guards. That's why it was taking a little bit longer. But I'm fixing that so that at least when you just ask a question about something, it should give you a response quickly. But when you need to actually do something, right, that's that's that's the god I added because they're working really hard to give this thing thought in its head, right?

It needs I I put in I implement things into I teach it in a sense right I give it instructions and I tell it do this like this right so that when you tell it to do something you don't have to remember to say certain specific things every single time to make sure it always does the job correctly and so that's what I did but I did it and I took it a little bit too far and that's why I took long on the process. But ideally it shouldn't take long and just ask a question. But like when you're asking it to do something, it should take a little bit longer because it should check its work. It should make sure it's doing it correctly.

It should make sure it is following your instructions. Right. So, I'm just going to share my screen again. Wait. I'm making the changes. As I'm making the changes, the thing is busy installing itself. Before I share my screen, let me just make sure it's back. Okay, I think it's back. Okay, let's do this. Is it sharing my screen? That's captions. Okay. And we back. So as I was saying to the screen and yeah so remember the question I asked like please tell me about this and as I told you it was going to explain everything in full to me. So, my budget income, my budget expense, it broke down the expense sheet, right?

So, now I'm going to go like, hey, can you update the housing to rent? So, that's what's my biggest expense? And he went and found the biggest expense in the Excel sheet, right? And I was like, hey, can you update the housing to zero rand? And because our friends overseas, the descendants of our colonizers, find so hard to make this thing human, it will be so flabbergasted at this request. I actually need to do it because I was going to add more instruction to it, but it's it's I've just gotten so annoyed by it that I add more instructions so that like it does it just does not bother me, right? Maybe I've talked maybe I talked too soon.

I think I talked too soon. Normally when you tell it to do something that makes no sense to it cuz of course it won't make any sense to it. What do you call this now? It will question you. It will push back. It'll be weird about it. I will fix that. I'm fixing that. But if you like that, that's great. So yeah. So so now I've told it to update the sheet. So it changes the housing to zero. All right. Right. Now this is where now it's actually doing the work and this is where it's going to take time. So I'm going to I'm going to stop this. I'm going to stop this. And I I think I should at least open. But now I'm making changes to the sheet.

Oh should have shown me the sheet first. You can see the sheet that is changing and how it's changing it. But if I go a little bit up, right, I asked it to create a new budget for me, right? So I added this. I'll make this much more nicer. I know what to do to make this nicer. So let's just copy this. Guys are going to learn with me. We're going to debug this live. So after created a new sheet for me, right? It named it budget two and it put all of this for me in there and it's like has six sheets, not five. Should have told it to remove all those sheets. But let's Oh, it did it. Okay, let's do this then. Did faster than I expected.

That must open up the whole computer a lot. Okay. For most of you, you'd be opening up Excel sheet. So, let's do that. Oh, let me just tell it for my new budget. Can you please create a new account just for new right while it's doing that? Is this thing opening? Hey, computer. So this is the one it talked about where it added things for me. Also don't mind my what you call this now don't mind numbers numbers is is is is being childish. As you can see housing is now set to zero rand. So it made the changes through conversation.

So the beauty about this is now you can give it a full set of instructions right you can tell it hey please update my housing to this. My technology costs have increased by 5,000 rand. I got new policies. My saving is this. Please update the sheet. You do it through conversation. It will update the things. And the larger your request, the more you can have it do for you, right? So now it's going to take this budget created for me and split it out. We're not going to sit around wait for that. But as you can see, it has it moments. It does the things and it gets things done.

Yeah. Is there is there anything else I should share? Honestly, if you guys have questions, please feel free to ask. It'll help me be able to, I guess, create better content moving forward for you. Know what to share and not go like that is like I don't know if you care about that vibe situation. The only reason I'm doing this is because like I've heard enough people not know and want to know, but at the same time it's very overwhelming, right? All I can say is at the end of the day, this is a tool. That's all it is. It's a tool. It's always been a tool. Like all tools that we've been shared before, we need less effort.

What do you call this now? We need less effort to accomplish things. And as you can see, it created a new budget for me. So, let's have some fun. Let's see if it's in my downloads folder. There we go. It created a new path called the new budget. It's opening. And there we go. It created a new budget for me. So you can tell it how you want to do things, how it must look like. You give it an existing one. Just tell it to change things. It'll change just that thing for you.

Yeah so so it's a computer it's a tool it's it its end goal is for like every other tool the way I like to describe it is that it will eventually allow the human to do the thing they love the most right it takes away the mundane and gives you the time to do the things you've always wanted to do just didn't have the time because you needed to do the mundane and the typical Right? We're entering an era where we get to express ourselves more than we've ever had the capacity to do. Right? Not just by using these LLMs, right? I think the very first step is use LLMs, I like to say, to replace yourself, right?

So that you don't have to do that job anymore that you're doing, but also make it very clear that it can't do that job without you because you're the one that instructed it. And that's what's also important to remember here is that for you to exist tomorrow, you need to use the tool to replace yourself so that you become indispensable. But if somebody else uses the tool to replace you, then you become dispensable, right? And and and that's really what you should be avoiding here. By using it to replace yourself. Then you begin to remember the creative things you've always wanted to do.

The the singing, the jumping, the dancing, the the creating clothes, the going out, hanging. There's just there's just so much us as humans would like to do, can do, but we don't make time for it because well, got work to do. We don't got work to do anymore, guys. The computers are going to do work for us. And that's the goal. That's the goal. And, and I hope you remember that as you go on this journey. Yeah, it's officially peace. I hope you guys a good one. And to the next one. Here we are. Do it. I fly through it.
