your own private ai
a tour of openwork: notes to yourself, a feed, a task board and agents working in the background

Hello beautiful people. Take two by force. So, let's get straight to it. Today's video is me just showcasing a combination of two years of research on what is the best interface to be able to make take the most advantage take the most advantage. To use AI as effectively as humanly possible. Right? To be able to enable for you to continuously train your artificial intelligence to ensure that it actually delivers and gets the work that you want done. To ensure that you own your own personal artificial intelligence when the time comes when it disappears into the background. Right?
I like to call this the transition UI interface for you to engage with the artificial intelligence. And I spent the past two years talking to like 6,000 plus humans trying to understand how they use AI, observe how people use technology. One of the things I've discovered is social media spent a really great amount of time figuring out how to get us hooked on products. So, this is very curious. It's like why not then just like the basis of the interface being what social media's done. Like they they studied us, they figured out how to get us hooked. Why not make it and put it to good use. Right? And that was one.
The second one was the realization that people send messages to themselves. Right? You are actively curating the important things that you find important in this chaotic world on a daily basis. This is the place where you just go throw it and go like I'll I'll come back to it. You're either sending a message to yourself on WhatsApp, Slack, Teams, email, whatever you call it because you are just trying to keep track of everything. And so it's like, okay, cool. That's probably very important. Right?
Especially in a world where you need to give the AI your judgment, your taste, so that it can then express the things you want it to express in the best way humanly possible, right? And so, that's what you're looking at right now, right? When you land on OpenWork. First, it's called OpenWork because it's open for you to change it as you see fit, but most importantly, it is also for you to make it your own. Like Apple likes to say, it comes in black. It was It was It comes in nights Ah, guys, I'm so sorry. It comes in night time something shade and another something shade color. Cheap boss. Cheap boss. The next one will be much more better.
Anyhow, so you can You can also propose some colors and then I'll add them there. Anyhow, so you can chat to yourself here. I've been sending messages to myself. It's like when you have to fix the AI prompt, right? And I will not have the AI respond to me because I just need to take notes. I don't need this pedantic AI who thinks it knows better than you to respond to me, right? But then, if I do want the AI to then respond, maybe I just have a question for it, right? I'll just go like, "Hey, AI, tell me, why do prompts fail?" Right? Now, it'll respond to me, right?
But here's the most important part about why I'm building this the way I'm currently building. It is supposed to be your personal artificial intelligence that is private to you, that is kept to you, that at the end of the day, when all else fails, there's a place where you have harnessed the artificial intelligence that you have generated over the year, right? So, currently being run locally on my device with no data going off of it to any third party. So, anything I say, do, or think lives on this device. Just for me. I like to call it your life journal.
That's why like right now the first message is taking a little time is because it's currently on my Optimus getting ready to respond to me. And so that's why it's running locally. But if I have an onboard, I can go connect to my other provider so that I can then talk to them directly and speed up the responses. And so there we go. It's not telling me why and we'll get to that later. So okay, cool, great. So now you can talk to yourself. And if why yes, from your WhatsApp, from your email, from wherever, you can send messages to yourself here.
And when you do that, the important part about this is most of these tools weren't built to allow you to search your own data. That's not what they were designed for. This is where this gets now really important. You go back to your messages or you look for a document because you're looking for a question to be answered. Right? Well, now I'm just going to like type in hello. This is just basic search. I I know I know the keyword of what I'm looking for and so I type hello and it searches across all my conversations, files, documents for the word hello and it returns it to you as a feed, like it would on your social media.
What I'm looking forward to eventually implementing is the ability for you to then tell the AI, your local artificial intelligence, "Hey, every morning, can you please find out can you please tell me the most important news?" Right? And your this feed will be curated by that. And most importantly, because you've been sending things to yourself, you know, links, documents, everything, it has a very good understanding of how to generate this feed for you. Right? So that stolen from social media. If we go slightly more to the left, you will see this empty state here with circles.
Here is where you will see agents responding to you that have been running in the background performing a particular task for you. I don't know when I'm stuck in my conversations. I don't want to come back to my conversation just to see what they're doing. They need to go off, do things, and come back and tell me. And stories just seemed like the best way to go about it because it also then gives them the ability to express themselves fully, right? Not only does it have to express itself in words, it can express itself in images and videos.
These things are getting cheaper and cheaper, and so it should be allowed to entertain you while it's telling you what it is it's done in your life for you. So that's why we have that existing over there. Now, what as you can see, there's one to myself and one to a task I'm currently working. Now, this is Now, this is the most important part of this whole experience. The thing that's been bugging me of all interfaces is the inability for me to keep track of what I am currently working on, busy with, and want to do. Right? And I was like, Kanban board, right? It is I don't know how old. I'll go do that research.
We'll do have some fun posting content about it. The Kanban board is with the ones that's been working throughout our lives and been able to track on the things that need to be done, have been done, and are currently working on, right? The important part about this is, for example, I want to work on developing a service menu because I need to provide my services to people, and people needs to know how much it costs cuz I'm done doing things for free. And now I just write notes to myself, right? So, I'm like, yeah, I need to like research how restaurant menus look like.
And I also need to be able to like I also want my thing to be listed like a restaurant menu. So, I just come here and write my notes. I can then invite other people that I would like to join me in this task, so then we can come here and talk talk and it becomes like a group chat. And of course, the AI is already in it, so I can always ask the AI some questions and we'll just like chit-chat about this, right? So, multiplayer with agents and humans. That's what they like to call it today, right? And as As you have the feed of of a particular task so that you're then able to also just search curated information just related to that. So, yeah.
So, that is the user interface in a nutshell. I think let's end off with one last thing. The reason why this is designed the way it's designed is to ensure that at the end of the day you are able to hold context where it's related to be held. It's designed in a way that it is as hooking and captivating as social media to ensure that at the end of the day you you continue to train your personal artificial intelligence so you can make the most of it. Right. And so, yeah.
For example, all the documents you create, everything that's context related to just the task hello will exist here, but it's also available to the rest of your AI, your artificial intelligence when you ask it a question. It will not come back and create here. I think I want to end this off with like a nice little goody snack for my technical friends out there. I think eventually this will become less technical. I have something called local Adam. This is when you send the AI, the artificial intelligence off to go do some things for you in the background. I have two coding harnesses collected. I have open coding cloud.
I haven't installed more because I'm tired of opening up more UIs. And all the existing ones piss me off so that is why we only have this now. And you can install more as usual, of course. And you can now not have to worry about Oh my days, I was talking to you here and I've run out of tokens here. Let me now move over to here. But now I need to give you context of what's been happening over No, those days are done and dusted. This has already been solved. Just not the way I would have liked it to be as Spencer. So, welcome to OpenWork.
I like to call this as I already said, the transition from where we are to your personal artificial intelligence that's running in the background. This is where you come to define what AI is to you. That's why I call it artificial intelligence and not your companion, your your co-pilot, your whatever the hell they call it nowadays. This is artificial intelligence. You need to harness it and you need to make it your own. I hope this time you're listening. If you've listened to this point all the way to the end, like my friend Jacob likes to say, I with you. Thank you very much. These will get shorter and better.
I will I will start to explain technical jargons that I've been throwing around. I just really wanted to just get the UI out there. One, explain it to others, get some feedback as soon as possible. And two, be able to also start clearing my mind of what it is that is actually built here. Yeah. Hope you guys have a good one. Bye.
